LEGACY
In the Monterey Festival’s third year (1999) regional leaders from The Navigators organized and facilitated a weeklong summer-camp type discipleship program for military personnel from around the country. Purposed to serve and grow in faith, the discipleship program functioned within the larger festival context and became known as “Nav Camp.” The Navigator Military Summer Training Program was a time of spiritual enrichment enjoyed by up to 120 soldiers at each festival. Those who attended not only received, they contributed greatly with event setup and anchored SWC’s ministry department’s alter call prayer and counseling team.
When the Del Mar Festival launched in 2004 the Nav Camp discipleship program immediately became one of the extended ministry aspects of the So Cal event. Thanks to the vision of Navigator leaders, hundreds of young men and women were spiritually impacted from their time at Spirit West Coast. Note, a handful of young men and women who met at Nav Camp got married!
