HISTORY OF CELEBRATION CONCERTS
The following unpublished article was written in 1996 about Jon Robberson’s story and the ministry and history of Celebration Concerts. At that time Celebration Concerts had already been promoting concerts for 15 years. In 1996 the planning for the Spirit West Coast festival in Monterey was in-the-works, with the first festival taking place in 1997; the idea being “birthed” by Jon in 1995. In 1996 Celebration Concerts produced 30 concerts and special events in two dozen cities including Phoenix. Some of the tours and artists promoted in 1996 included: Point Of Grace, Michael W. Smith, Newsboys, Twila Paris, and the iconic D.C. Talk Jesus Freak tour.
